The original oak-hornbeam forests were replaced long ago by cultivated stands of spruce, pine, islands of beech, and alders in moist areas. The penultimate stop deals with these trees. Originally a great number of peat bogs were located outside of the town, but in 1933 this segment of the Svitava River was senselessly regulated and the picturesque meandering sections of the river were lost. Rare orchids also disappeared. The last remnants of original nature are spring river banks covered with large numbers of snowflakes and primroses.
