The museum maps and presents the history of the region; comprehensive services are available for both researchers and tourist visitors. In addition to regular exhibitions and permanent exhibits interested parties can take advantage of the following services:
Guided tours of the historic parts of the town are organized for large parties (groups of ten or more). Upon agreement the Church of St. Illya as well as the lecture and concert hall at the Ottendorfer Library can be opened for viewing. The tour of the town lasts approximately 90 minutes.
Three libraries offering reference material use as well as lending services are available for researchers and for those interested in regional history and art.
Upon agreement a tour of the tower at the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary can be arranged; the tower houses a permanent exhibit on the history of sacred structures of the Svitavy deanery and offers a fine view of the town from the tower.
The three museum libraries and photo archive can be used for research purposes. Reference use of library materials is free of charge. Books can only be checked out from the research library by registered users.
