The first version of the educational trail dates to 1984 when local nature preservationists installed 7 information panels. The popularity of the site as a recreational zone has its roots at the beginning of the 20th century, but the interesting ecosystem was created with the additional of Lower Pond in 1953. This pond had an impact in the climatic conditions of the town, serves a flood protection function, and offers many opportunities for recreation.

Today’s educational trail begins at the bank of Lower Pond, features 9 stops, and ends at the traditional sources of the Svitava River. The launching point of the marked trail is the resting place with benches at the bank of the Lower Pond; visitors can learn the basic dates from the history of the area and become familiar with the current pond system on the Svitava River.
